Frequently Asked Questions

Why has my skin darkened after using a chemical peel?

There are two possible reasons for this. The first is that the outer most layer of the skin is dead and getting ready to “slough” off. This is the more common reason. The second possibility is that the outer layer is already removed and the sun has caused melanin production in the layer underneath. It is extremely important to either avoid sun exposure, or use sun block if sun exposure cannot be avoided. This reason is less common and more dangerous to the health of your skin.
