Very effective at treating acne Review by Lin
Rating
I purchased this bottle several months ago but I didn't start using it until 2 months ago. I was unsure if I should be using acid on my face, especially after reading on the internet about how gentle you should treat your skin if you have acne. In the past few years I have tried proactiv,murad,acne.org and many other products but the effort was in vain. So after having the bottle in my bathroom for a few months ( I keep it in a closed drawer to block sunlight) I decided to give it a try. First few weeks, I still had acne. Then one month past, improving and midpoint of the second month my face was completely clear of active acne. This product truly is requisite for acne sufferers. Now I am left with only blemishes on my face, although a plethora of them. These blemishes were what I already had on my face the peel didn't give me any new ones as long as I didn't pick at my skin. I am currently using Lactic acid 35% to fade those blemishes, I just had my first LA peel yesterday, I don't want to give a premature review so I won't comment on that. Anyways, if your looking for something, anything to treat your acne and you've lost hope because you've tried just about everything, I implore you to try this Salicylic Acid. Just make sure to do vast amount of research before using any type of chemical peel on your face, even low percentages. I hope this review helps someone, even if it helps one person it was worth writing this review. (Posted on 12/14/11)
Amazing. Review by Jenna

I decided to try this because it was inexpensive compared to the copious amounts of products I've purchased to deal with problem skin. I started with acne at age 9 and it continued all through high school and was managed pretty well with a dermatologist. However, after I got pregnant I developed white heads (comedonal acne) all over my cheeks, forehead and chin/jaw area. Nothing would make them go away--not even my dermatologist.

I saw this online while researching peels and found the amazing reviews on Amazon. I purchased it and received it very quickly. I have been using it for about a week and a half and can say that already, my whiteheads are being cleaned out and despite some dry skin, I look a million times better. The texture of my skin is getting smoother instead of bumpy and makeup looks so much better on.

I've already recommended to a friend who suffers from acne as well--this is amazing. Thank you Skin Lab! (Posted on 10/19/11)

Did give me some irritation on my skin. Review by H. Onishi (Tucson, AZ)

I have used it twice so far. My problems are brown spots around my eyes. I bought this product hoping it will do something. After the first time, some spots felt smaller and less visible. I carefully followed the instructuion, but it did gave me some irritation on my skin though. Some skin around my nose wanted to get peeled, and I had to have red skin around my nose for a week:(

WOW! I am impressed. Review by C. Haas (Fort Worth, TX )

My daughter is using salicylic for acne and I am using glycolic acid. WOW! I am impressed. This stuff works. However, be very careful...you can burn your skin even at low %'s. All of my skin gently resurfaced itself and after a month I looked 10 years younger!! My daughters acne has improved by 50% and about 75% of her scars are fading after 6 weeks use. Every woman should give this product a try.

i had a breakout in my mid-30s and nothing worked.; my skin was scaring. i even went to a detrmatologist who told me i was unlucky and that roaccutance was my only option. salicylic acid has been my saviour and when i was pregnant i used the glycolic acid peel - also good. (Posted on 9/4/11)
Pretty good product for melasma lightening Review by Georgi
Rating
Salycylic Acid 20% concentration was very useful for lightening facial melasma when Retin A did not work. It required persistence and reapplications about every three days until the skin started to peel, but eventually it did work to lighten and lessen the circumference of the mask of pregnancy. Even the strongest concentration of Lactic Acid or Glycolic Acid did not work for me on my melasma, nor did any of these three products work for age spots on the hands or arms. I keep trying, though. Salycylic Acid 20% was also useful on some larger facial freckles, but not the smaller darker freckles. I am ordering another bottle today in order to rid myself of the remainder of the melasma. Almost a miracle product! Review by Heather

I have been suffering through blackheads on my nose, front cheeks, and chin for years and nothing has ever really worked. I have been using this product for approximately 4-5 weeks, once to twice a week and my blackheads have slowly been "draining" out, and pores have been getting smaller. I'm hoping with continued usage (and implementing the glycolac peel into my routine once every 7-10 days), the results will be even greater. However, I am being realistic and don't expect full disappearance on my nose or chin area just because of the very oily nature in those areas on my face. I did experience moderate peeling, and a chemical burn trailing down the upper part of my laugh line using this product. Nonetheless, this product still gets the full 5 stars since the peeling is nearly inevitable due to salicylic acids chemical properties, and it was my own fault for not being more careful on avoiding contact with my laugh lines. However, I have managed to find a "trick" to stop the gel from oozing down my cheek and coming in contact with them when I apply it: I simply put a thin band-aid over that area. Sure, it may look silly, but it works. Right now I leave the peel on for 4-5 minutes, and rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water. Almost immediately afterwards, I apply Aveda's Intensive Hydrating Masque for 10 minutes to help reduce redness and the peeling effect. After the masque, I do apply my regular moisturizer, Cetaphil, with a few drops of jojoba oil oil from acne.org mixed in. I do cleanse my face before the peel as well using the cleanser from Acne.org for approx. 10 seconds (lathering it up in my hands first before I put it on my face).

Overall, I highly suggest to use this product if you suffer with blackheads. Start using it once a week for a month at night time, then up your application to twice a week afterwards. I don't think it'd be a good idea to do anymore than 3 peels a week with this if you choose to work up to that. Moisturizing is extremely important after the use of this product to reduce the redness and peeling effect; I suggest pure aloe vera or adding jojoba oil to your regular moisturizer. Good luck and I hope it works for you! :) (Posted on 8/31/11)
Awesome product! Review by B. Lowe (Mill Valley, CA )

Amazing product , but not for beginners. Product is strong and works wonders but it's not to be taken lightly. Err on the side of caution with the first use until you build up a tolerance, rinse well and be diligent with sunscreen and moisture the following days (actually EVERY day would be key). Awesome product!
