Questions on Salicylic Acid 20% Peel
- From Vanessa at 3/16/12 3:00 PM
- Hello, I have a question about rotating between different peels. On the website you say that this peel can be used in combination with an AHA in order to achieve a deeper peel. I want to address both my acne as well as my hyperpigmentation. Can I use my salicylic acid peel twice a week (Tuesday and Friday) and use a lactic acid peel once a week? (Saturday) Or do I run a risk of over exfoliating? Thanks (:
- Vanessa,
I wouldn't suggest using the salicylic acid twice per week. I would suggest using it once per week for the first 6 week process. If you are going to use both peels I would use salicylic one week and then lactic 7 days later. I would do this for 6 weeks.
After you complete the first six week process, then you'll know how tolerant your skin is and be able to judge what your skin can handle. I wouldn't do too much all at once because you don't want to stress out the skin. You might cause more issues than you began with.
Please let me know if you need anything else.
Thanks,
Ashley

- If I'm not alternating between peels and only using salicylic acid, you still suggest that I use it once per week for the first 6 weeks? I'm asking because I read that salicylic acid is mild enough to use multiple times a week.
- Melina,
We only recommend using the Salicylic 20%, once per week. The reason is because our salicylic is 20% and for most other products that contain salicylic you'll only see there is 2-5% in the product. Those products are safe to use multiple times per week.
Salicylic can be drying to the face and you'll need to make sure you are using a moisturizer and neutral cleanser.
Thanks,

- Hello,
I wanted to know if i could put a few drops of this into my face wash or mask, instead of using it as peel???
- Chris,
We do not suggest mixing this peel with any other face wash or mask. The reason is because the peel will not "mix" and become one with another product. This could result in uneven results or tamper with the peel's PH.

Ashley

- Hi,
I'm writing from Hong Kong. I bought your salicylic acid 20% peel from Amazon and I'm on my second week of the peel. 1 min first time, 2 mins the second. I really want to get rid of the cystic acne on my chin (oily T-zone, adult/hormonal acne? I'm 42). So far, I don't see any improvement, instead breakout is worse, more cystic painful acne. Pls advise on when I should be seeing some good results, should I give it a few more weeks? Thanks for any advice you can provide me.
Nancy
- Nancy,
In order for you to see a difference you'll have to at least use the product for 6 weeks. In this time period the skin will start changing. The change will never be drastic because you don't want to strip any pigmentation from your skin. I would give it another 4 weeks and then see how you feel. You might need a stronger peel. If you do decide to go stronger I would suggest using a Glycolic product.

- i wanted to know if after i used the peel, then the next day after i wash my face can i use a toner??.. like for everyday..
- Fae,
You can use the toner the very next day after using the peel. The toner should be weak enough to wear it won't affect the peel you had the day before. Make sure you are only using the peel one day per week. This will give you the best results.
Best of luck to you,
Ashley

- I used salicylic acid 20% as a spot treatment twice a week and I'm getting imflammed acne every 3-4 days, it has been 3 weeks I have done it and before I was on retin-A 0.025% for 3 weeks and got some initial purging from retin-A. Now my cystic acne is getting worse my face is worse than before I started salicylic acid peel, how long should I stick to this treatment? I just ordered HQ+ it's claimed to be the best acne peel on your website, should I try this level 4 peel? Or should I stick to salicylic acid 20%. I sometimes alternate salicylic 20% with glycolac 60. What's your advice thanks
- Natasha,
You can use the HQ. However, you should be very careful. This is our strongest peel and please note you can only use it every 14 days. It is very crucial that you follow the directions that come with the product.
I think the HQ will work very well for your acne. You must not use anything else with the HQ peel. When using other products along with the HQ it can really irritate your skin and cause burning.
Please let me know if you need anything else,
Ashley
