Product Description

Quick Overview

This treatment is particularly beneficial for clogged pores, thickened and aging skin, severe acne, and environmentally damaged skin. By decreasing oil production and opening clogged sebaceous follicles, it can contribute significantly to the healing process of acne. Suitable for most skin types, the BHA+ peel can be used on the face, neck, hands, and upper chest.

What is BHA+ Peel?

The BHA+ peel is a combination of chemicals in a single peel. This peel contains salicylic acid, lactic acid and resorcinol (another skin-peeling chemical) which together constitute a very adjustable peel which lends itself well to repeat applications. It is similar in most ways to the glycolic acid peel, but there are certain important differences.

How does the BHA+ Peel work?

A combination of several different beta hydroxyl acids, our BHA+ peel treats many different skin conditions. The BHA+ peel penetrates more deeply into the epidermal layers of the skin and is gentler than chemical peels. Typically, there is no downtime and most clients are able to return to their normal activities soon after receiving treatment. Because they are gentler, however, several treatments may be required to achieve the best results.

Client Instructions

Peel Instructions

*always refer to peel manual prior to performing actual peel

1. Apply 2-3ml of BHA+ peel to a gauze pad and apply to the face using a gentle rubbing action. Keep the solution at least a quarter of an inch away from the eyes, lips and mucus membranes.

2. Leave the BHA+ peel on the skin initially for 30 seconds; building up to 1-2 minutes as tolerance increases (you may fan the skin during this time to alleviate discomfort). Contact time of peel should not exceed 5 minutes. If redness or excessive stinging occurs, wash off immediately.

3. Remove all traces of peel with copious amounts of water. Pay special attention to areas around the eyebrows, behind the ears, and in the creases around the nose.

4. Pat dry with cotton or paper towel (do not rub the skin at this stage).

5. IMPORTANT Apply a thin layer of non-comedonic moisturizer with an SPF of 30 or higher!

6. Repeat every 10-14 days for a series of 6 treatments in conjunction with regular sun protection and moisturization of the skin. FDA Guidelines fo the use of Lactic Acid are:

  1. Test any product that contains an AHA on a small area of skin before applying it to a large area. If you use cosmetics with AHAs and experience skin irritation or prolonged stinging, stop using the product and consult your physician.
  2. Follow the use instructions on the label. Do not exceed the recommended applications.
  3. Avoid using AHA-containing products on infants and children.
  4. Use sun protection if you use a AHA product.

Pre-Peel

  1. Avoid using self-tanners, masks, scrubs or exfoliating agents for at least 48 hours prior to the peel.
  2. Stop glycolic acid and Retin A/Renova products 48 hours before peel.
  3. Do not wax facial hair for 48 hours before peel.
  4. Notify us if you have a history of cold sores, fever blisters or herpes outbreak anywhere on the face prior to the application.
  5. Avoid sun exposure and tanning for at lease a week prior to your peel.

Post-Peel

  1. Avoid exercise and sweating (sauna) for a few hours after the procedure.
  2. Avoid the use of abrasive or exfoliating sponges until face returns to normal condition.
  3. ?The drying of the skin often associated with Salicylic acid use can be counteracted by applying a fragrance-free, non-comedonic moisturizer (Neutrogena facial lotion, or Cetaphil lotion) twice a day. Avoid products containing AHAs until the skin returns to normal condition.
  4. Do not peel the skin, pick the skin, scrape or scratch the skin, expose the skin to sun or sun lamps, or use a mask on the skin until the skin returns to normal condition.
  5. If possible delay the use of make-up for 24 hours, if you must use very lightly.

  3. The perfect answer to all your acne and acne scar problems

Posted by Rizzy on 7th Oct 2009

I used to tried everything to put a hold on my breakout cycle and removing my pimple scars. but the very first application of the BHA + and i could see the scars lighten instantly. its been a few days since the first application. my skin is still peeling as if i just applied it. and the effects are wonderful! my scars are getting lighter by the day. the downside is you have to tolerate the dryness and avoid the sun light. but its a minimal price to pay for the benefits. i will write another review once i've done my first 6 series of treatment with this product.

  4. Acne Super Peel

Posted by Ari on 27th Aug 2009

BHA+ is great, especially if you are used to things just not working... this stuff really works!

I ordered the Roll-on first, and I think this will probably last me around 6 weeks, maybe longer... But I later ordered the bottle because, because I think its easier to apply it across my entire face. I'd recommend applying it on a Thursday or a Friday because this one causes some visible peeling of the skin. It takes me about 2 days, and then I notice slight flaking of the skin. No redness just an super exfoliation. The skin is a little dry at first but within 3 days, everything looks great!

After using the product twice, the old skin has peeled off, and the new skin is much less oily. The acne is much diminished and I'm starting to see some reduction in small spots. The penetration of the peel seems a little more than with the AHA peel's i've tried, but it does not hurt, just a slight tingle.

I've tried many things which have been recommended by various people, and i've never really found something that works, until this one!

The AHA peels work for a lot of people, but not everyone... I'm one of those people who did not have much luck with the AHA Glycolic peel. But this stuff really works!

  5. The BHA+ peel is great

Posted by Matt on 26th Aug 2009

The product really works, the BHA+ peel is great, but a little strong. For anyone who has acne, this peel works when nothing else has. I've tried other AHAs in the past, but I like this one more.

  6. BHA+ is best for acne…if you can handle it

Posted by Carl on 26th Aug 2009

I like the Salicylic roll-on, but I really like the BHA+ peel the best. It seems to be stronger. As long as your skin can tolerate a Level 3 peel, I would recommend the BHA+ peel.
