Product Description

Quick Overview

This treatment is ideal for dry or dehydrated skin, as well as aging and sun-damaged skin. Lactic Acid's unique ability to draw moisture toward the surface of the skin makes it ideal for individuals whose skin dries out easily. This treatment also effectively combats acne, leaving a wonderfully smooth and clear complexion. The Lactic 30ml and 100ml are ideal for full facial applications. For specific areas, or spot treatments, the Lactic 50 Roll-on would be best.

What is Lactic Acid?

Lactic Acid is a non-irritating rapid exfoliator. Lactic Acid is recommended for those that are new to peel and exfoliating agents in skin care products, as well as those that have used other exfoliators for a long period and want to improve results. Lactic acid is an alpha hydroxy acid derived from sour milk. It is ideal for sensitive skin or skin unable to tolerate glycolic acid. Lactic acid peel helps to eliminate germs, toxins and dead cells. It also helps to maintain the skin's pH factor. Lactic Acid occurs naturally in the skin and is a primary component of the skins natural moisturizing factor, and so less harsh and more moisturizing than Glycolic Acid skin peels.

How does Lactic Acid work?

The use of Lactic Acid will help to stimulate and speed skin cell turnover on the surface of the skin, thereby producing more vibrant and smoother-looking skin. In the deeper layers of skin, new collagen and elastin will be stimulated and the skin will actually become thicker, tighter and more firm. Benefits Also, if you are new to acid peels this may be the one for you. It also can be used for the following:

Client Instructions

Peel Instructions

*always refer to peel manual prior to performing actual peel

1.    Apply 2-3 ml Lactic/50 solution to a gauze pad and apply to the face using a gentle rubbing action. Keep the solution at least a quarter of an inch away from the eyes, lips and mucus membranes.

2.    Leave Lactic Acid on initially for 30 - 60 seconds, building up to 1-3 minutes as tolerance increases (you may fan the skin during this time to alleviate discomfort). Contact time of peel should not exceed 10 minutes. If redness or stinging occurs, wash off immediately.

3.    Remove all traces of peel with copious amounts of water.  Pay special attention to areas around the eyebrows, behind the ears, and in the creases around the nose.

4.    Pat dry with cotton or paper towel (do not rub the skin at this stage).

5.    Apply a thin layer of non-comedonic moisturizer (see below).

6.    The Lactic Peel is designed to be used every 5-7 days in conjunction with regular exfoliation and moisturization of the skin.

FDA Guidelines fo the use of Lactic Acid are:

1.    Test any product that contains an AHA on a small area of skin before applying it to a large area. If you use cosmetics with AHAs and experience skin irritation or prolonged stinging, stop using the product and consult your physician.

2.    Follow the use instructions on the label. Do not exceed the recommended applications.

3.    Avoid using AHA-containing products on infants and children.

4.    Use sun protection if you use a AHA product.

Pre-Peel

  1. Avoid using self-tanners, masks, scrubs or exfoliating agents for at least 48 hours prior to the peel.
  2. Stop glycolic acid and Retin A/Renova products 48 hours before peel.
  3. Do not wax facial hair for 48 hours before peel.
  4. Notify us if you have a history of cold sores, fever blisters or herpes outbreak anywhere on the face prior to the application.
  5. Avoid sun exposure and tanning for at lease a week prior to your peel.

Post-Peel

  1. Avoid exercise and sweating (sauna) for a few hours after the procedure.
  2. Avoid the use of abrasive or exfoliating sponges until face returns to normal condition.
  3. Apply a fragrance free moisturizer (Neutrogena facial lotion, or Cetaphil lotion) twice a day. Avoid products containing alpha-hydroxyacids until the skin returns to normal condition.
  4. Do not peel the skin, pick the skin, scrape or scratch the skin, expose the skin to sun or sun lamps, or use a mask on the skin until the skin returns to normal condition.

  1. Very nice product

Posted by Kendra on 2nd Sep 2009

Works very well. My first time trying it and it makes my skin smooth and silky. Very nice product. I have acne prone oily skin. I'm African American with hyperpigmentation and this does help with smoothing out my skin. I would recommend.

  2. Skin Laboratory is the real deal!!

Posted by Melissa on 29th Aug 2009

I love the products from skin laboratory. They're the read deal, and they work wonders. For a year I was shelling out $100 per peel at my derms office. In search of a home version of these peels, I stumbled upon Skin Laboratory. This is the second product I've ordered (the other is the %20 salicylic) and I will always buy from this reliable, trustworthy site.

  3. I noticed a reduction in whiteheads

Posted by Margaret on 20th Aug 2009

It was in good condition when I received it. It actually did work but suprisingly too mild for my skin. It says to leave it on for few minutes which I did, but nothing was felt. What I did notice however was a reduction in whiteheads. I might be considering a peel of higher concentration.

  4. Roll-On is perfect for touch up's

Posted by Abby on 28th Jun 2009

I have ordered products from Skin Laboratory on several occasions and they always arrive within a week of my order, packaged well to avoid any breakage. The roll-on lactic Acid Peel is perfect for touch-up spots and is not too irritating for my skin.

  5. Lactic Acid Peel

Posted by wwax on 26th Jun 2009

I was nervous about doing a chemical peel on my face without a specialist around so I bought one of the gentler formulas to use on my face. I was hoping just to exfoliate some of the dullness from my skin with this, but was surprised at just how much of a difference it made to my facial skin.

My boyfriend who never noticed when I had 6" of hair cut off and my hair dyed from dark brown to red noticed actually asked me what I was doing to my skin the day after I first used this. He said I looked less tired and happier. So I was more than happy with the results.

It not only made the skin look softer any other products I put on for a couple of days after using this seem to be absorbed better so it makes my moisturisers etc seem to work better too. My skin does go a little pink for a few hours after use so I would recommend it as best to use before bed time and to make sure you follow the directions carefully as I could see how it could burn your skin if left on too long. Also make sure you wear lots of sunscreen on your face for the weeks you are using this as I've heard horror stories of home peels sensitizing faces to sun damage and people ending up with brown blotchy faces. OK so you should wear sunscreen on your face all the time but be extra careful while using this.

  6. fabulous skin!

Posted by By Emily G. Burke Campbell on 6th Mar 2009

I tried this product to help clear up some mild/moderate acne on my chin, forehead and sides of my face. I used the peel every five days for a month and my skin looks and feels amazing! I tolerated the 50% well as I am somewhat used to glycolic, but honestly this peel if pretty mild. Just be careful if you have picked anything before peeling, you will burn that spot and leave it red! Best to use it after mild extractions.

  7. More effective than Meladerm

Posted by Twilah Yvonne Freberg on 7th Aug 2008

Excellent: it is effective at removing topical calcification more so than 'Meladerm'. There is no waste of the product w/Skin Laboratory lactic acid peel gel packaging, thus it is cost efficient versus Meladerm. Since the manufacturer cannot assess the water quality of any consumer's area, directions to use only DISTILLED WATER for skin preparation and lactic acid removal should be stated.

  8. easy to use

Posted by Cindy Becker on 19th May 2008

Great product! I much prefer the gel form of chemical peel as opposed to the liquid. Product was easy to use and made my skin feel great. I just ordered more products!

  9. Excellent

2ND PURCHASE FROM YOUR COMPANY & IT WON'T BE THE LAST!! EXCELLENT

  10. easy and effective

Posted by Nathan Devine on 20th Sep 2007

This product is easy to apply, that alone makes it a good buy. I use it for acne and it seems to keep my pores open and reduce redness from old acne. For the price you should give it a try.
