Large pores are for the most part genetic. If either one of your parents had large pores then most likely, so will you. However, your pores are probably not really as large as you think they are, and with a suitable skincare regimen you can minimize your large pores right away. The first step in any large pore treatment is a little TLC; you simply have to treat your skin right.
Your pores contain your hair follicles and sweat glands, so you can imagine that they become clogged very easily. The best way to shrink large pores is to make sure they’re clean. If they’re blocked with oil, your pores will seem enlarged. Wash your face twice a day with a pore-refining cleanser. Oil causes larger pores, so remember to pay careful attention to your "T-zone" (your chin, nose, and forehead). A prescription for Retin-A can not only clear your skin, but also reduce your pore size. Check with a dermatologist to see if this topical treatment is right for you.
A good chemical peel can offer your pores a deeper level of exfoliation than Microdermabrasion. As your clogged pores and dead skin are pulled away, healthier skin is encouraged to grow back in its place. While, recovery is more intensive than a Microdermabrasion, the results can be even greater. You can generally expect younger, softer skin from a Chemical Peel with noticeably smaller pores. Many spas offer a Mircopeel, which is a combination of Microdermabrasion with a Chemical Peel. A Microdermabrasion before a Chemical Peel allows for deeper penetration of the product into your pores.
