Glycolic Acid 50% Peel
Glycolic stimulates underlying collagen growth to reduce appearance of fine lines. Great for spa’s, the lower pH of the Glycolic/50 reduces application times, and helps to penetrate skin buildup.
Our peels provide you the opportunity to enjoy the benefits of professional results at home, for a fraction of the cost. The 30ml and 100ml bottles are best for full facial applications. For specific areas, or spot treatments, we recommend the Glycolic Acid 35 Roll-On.
If You Need Something Stronger…
Glycolic/50 is 4x stronger than our Glycolic/35. It is generally well tolerated, but visible peeling might occur. The higher strength of glycolic acid will help with oilier and more resistant skin. It stimulates collagen growth more effectively than any of the other peels. The small molecule of a Glycolic acid chemical peel allows it to slip beneath the epidermis to reach the collagen fibers below and results in 15%-25% thickening over 12 weeks. Glycolic acid generally causes little or no visible peeling.
Glycolic Acid: The Workhorse of the Alpha Hydroxy Acids
Glycolic Acid is a superficial peeling agent that is made from sugar cane. It is often considered the most active and beneficial of the Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHA). (Hydroxy Acids are a class of exfoliants). With repetitive and continuous use of glycolic acid, improvement to skin tone and texture results. Once inside the skins cell, glycolic acid will serve as a catalyst for the formation of new collagen which will reduce the appearance of wrinkles on the skins surface. Glycolic acid has been proven to be very effective in the treatment of hyperpigmentation, melasma, actinic keratosis, acne, and oily skin, as well as other cosmetic uses. Glycolic Acid 50% Peel is great for razor bumps.
Clinical research and patient treatments clearly prove that AHAs are effective in helping to keep the skin clear and healthier. The research also confirmed that the majority of AHAs have larger molecular structures that do not penetrate the top layer of the skin (stratum corneum) without high concentrations and lower pH levels. Glycolic Acid is the most adaptable and beneficial AHA. Its tiny molecular structure allows it to penetrate the epidermis to accelerate the body’s exfoliation process. It “loosens” the glue that bonds the cells together, allowing thickened and dead cells to “disappear.” The end result is smoother skin with better coloration, tone and texture. You will see improvements in cell renewal, firmness, texture, reduction of fine lines and increased moisture levels.
A Safe, Controlled Peel is the Way to Go
The goal with a safe peeling regimen is to cause the skin to come off in a controlled way, with each peel taking off a few more layers of accumulated skin. With each application of the peel, the results are incremental. You should notice results within the first couple of applications, and the tone and texture of your skin will continue to improve as the layers of old skin are slowly removed to reveal new skin beneath.

30ml, 100ml, Roll-on

I have been using this peel weekly for almost three months. My skin is look so much better. Wrinkles are dinishing and tone is evening out. So easy to do and only takes about 10 min a week. My first order came with the sample of the Salicylic/20 and this boosts the results if you use as a pree peel the day before. This peel is very potent and you need to be gradual if you have not used a peel before.

This is my favorite acid to work my skin. Its very potent and does what it claims. I will continue to order from this company and this acid. Great buy!

Delivery and ordering was issue free. I just expected it to be stronger. I have used the 70% one before so this one felt a little weak. May just be me though......

Chicken pox scars are going away
Feb 26, 2013 by Vince
I bought the glycolic 50 gel peel for my chickpox scars, and I am glad to report that they are gradually going away with each treatment. I seen immediate results after about 2 weeks, probably wouldve seen more if I was consistant on the treatments. I seen

This product is gel-type and is perfect, makes applying to facial area easier. Seems a little weaker than when I have the peels professionally done at the salon, but this works great for the "in-between" times. I also use it on the back of my hands (in addition to a hand cream with SPF) to help lighten the age/sun spots, works great!
Has helped improve my melasma

First, I want to say that my review is not fake, I've been buying on amazon for years. Why it works for some and not others is hard to pinpoint as there are a lot of factors that can affect results including, but not limited to, application and skin type. When comparing one product to another, even of the same %, you have to keep in mind that some peels are buffered and others not, that makes a BIG difference. What largely determines a peels potency is its pH, not just its percentage, and that's one thing you also want to compare. Brand A 50% acid may not have the same pH as Brand B 50% Acid. A 1.0pH peel can be 10Xs stronger than a 2.0pH. Spas may use the same concentration but will probably use lower pHs because they are PROFESSIONALS and know (one would hope) exactly what they are doing. For home use, safety is a priority because most of us are not fully knowledgeable and may hurt ourselves then blame the company. They are not meant to be the same as one peel you got at the spa but rather to achieve similar results gradually, in the comfort of your home, at a fraction of the cost. The results are cumulative. Think of your skin in 10 points of depth (this is in no way accurate, just an example). The first peel takes 2 points off and brings it to an 8. A week later you have new skin that brings it up to a 9. Next peel takes another 2 off, bringing you to a 7, a week later are back to an 8, and so it continues. So after several consecutive peels, you want to give your skin a few weeks of recovery, you don't want your skin to get too thin. As far as this brand goes, the company has a lot of information on their website and are very responsive. I've been very happy with all their products and service so I continue to buy from them. My experience with peels started out with Lactic 50%, then Lactic 70%, then Glycolic 35% then Glycolic 50%. The glycolic 50% definitely "tingles" a lot more than any of the lactics! The first time I tried this peel, I started with a one minute application. I had mild tingling but nothing extreme. I added 1 min each time until I was doing 4 min. I continue to notice subtle improvements as I continue my applications. My skin looks smoother and somewhat clearer but glycolic does not have the moisturizing qualities of Lactic. From my understanding, they work on different levels of the skin. The glycolic being able to penetrate to a slightly deeper level and can help with the texture of the skin as opposed to lactic which works more on the surface. So, now I alternate one week of lactic, one of glycolic. I am hispanic with fair-medium skin. I've struggled with stubborn, resistant hyper-pigmentation (melasma) around my eyes for years. I tried countless products that seemed to work for others but not for me. Only photofacials had been able to remove it but it returns with the slightest bit of sun (hyper-active melanocytes) so they were too expensive for a temporary solution. These peels, week by week, gradually increasing the strength, along with a combination of other products I have listed on my profile, has slowly and surely faded my melasma. It's now 95% gone. It will still occasionally come back when I have a run in with the sun but it fades away again. One other thing I will note about Melasma that I have noticed is that smoking aggravates it. When I quit smoking, my melasma was easier to treat. When I started again, some came back. This happened twice. I looked it up online and saw that other people struggling with melasma experienced the same thing. When I get the urge to smoke, I now use electronic cigarettes and those have not had any effect on my melasma. NOTES ON PEELS:-Don't do it more often than they recommend. They recommend you do it every so often for a reason. Your skin has to have time to heal and develop new skin before you strip it away again.-You HAVE to wear sunblock. Your skin is more exposed and vulnerable to damage from sun. Protect it. If you don't you are canceling out or even reversing your progress. I like this one, Ole Henriksen Protect the Truth Sunscreen SPF 50+-1.7 oz. Its not the best moisturizer but as a sunblock, its great. Its my favorite because its hard to find high spf that doesn't leave a white haze, smell funky or make your eyes tear up.-When you are doing your peels, make sure you start with a clean DRY face, water will dilute the acid in your peel. I am wondering if thats why some people did not see any results. I wash my face, swipe it with alcohol on a cotton ball to remove any leftover oils and to help dry it. Wait 10-15 minutes, then apply the peel.-Use a fan brush like this oneTaklon Fan Mask Brush Acid Applicator for Glycolic Lactic TCA Skin Peel / Masques (Small). Mine has lasted over a year. You can use cotton balls/squares but I think they absorb product so you will waste some and get less peels out of your bottle.-Watch your face when the peel is on. The recommended time is a guideline, everyones skin is different and reacts differently. Thats why they recommend you start slow. Some are ok 1 min the first time, others the full 4 min. Once your skin starts looking pinkish, its time to remove. If it gets red, you've gone too long.-Make sure you wash off ALL of the acid. Wash, rewash, wash again. I like to shower right after to make sure its all gone. Any leftover acid will continue to work its way into your skin. I like to use a post peel neutralizer as an extra precaution. MD Formulations had a post peel neutralizer that was AWESOME but they don't sell it individually. I am trying this one Neutralizer skin pH balancer helps balance the pH of your skin for the safe and effective neutralization after peeling.. It works but I am still trying to find one more like the MD formulations one. You pour onto cotton ball and sweep your face right after peel, then wash it off with water. You can also mix your own neutralizer using baking soda and water.-Moisturize after. This one has been my favorite to use after, Hydrating Repair Peptide Wrinkle Cream (Post Peel) - Enhanced with Matrixyl?? 3000, Argireline??, Hyaluronic Acid & Natural Botanical Extracts. I also use it as a night cream. Very moisturizing and doesn't feel greasy or leave a residue.
great product so far

I just finished my second application and left on two minutes. Yes it tingles and burns but tolerable, but I following the instructions, using once a week and increasing my time each week up to 4 minutes as I build more tolerance to the feeling. I have not yet had any down time, not redness or visable peeling. I am black soap to wash my face and a glycolic Toner before appling the peel. After the peel I use JoJoba oil and a little shea butter to calm the skin. The next day I continue my regular routine with washing with Black Soap, using Glycolic Toner and following with Glycolic moiserizing face cream. I wait for it to dry and apply a little sunscreen to my face before my make up...face feels really smooth all week and I look forward to my next peel. I did not start out with a lower acid... I began with 50%, my skin tolerates it well so far. I will update once I reach 6 weeks of treatment and the full 4minute application. So far for the price and the results, it is worth the purchase. I have fair skin and I am 44 yrs old. I bought the product to reduce wringles around eyes, frown line around mouth and between eyebrowes, I hope to reduce the size of pores and even out skin tone. I do not have a lot of sun damage... just age lines. I still apply sunless tanning to my face after 48 hrs and it last much longer because the dead skin cells are fewer.
Love the peel.

I've only had a chance to try this product once, but so far it seems to be helping my skin. I recently got a sunburn on my face... so I need to wait a couple of weeks before trying this peel again. I'm sure it will be a good outcome though.
did my first peel today
Jul 13, 2012 by Harriet
hi there! So my package arrived this morning, and I did the first peel right away. A bit of history about my skin situation: I'm a mountain biker, 34 years old, and the many hours in the sun has taken its toll. I live in Cape Town South Africa, and I am Coloured, which basically means I have a brownish complexion. I've been struggling with hiper pigmentation for a long time now, and have received a couple of glycolic acid treatments from my dermatologist. The treatments I received did help to some extend, but did not clear the marks up 100%. It did leave my skin glowing and refreshed, and I did receive compliments about my skin. The treatments became too expensive, and that is why I've decided to buy this product online, to see if I can get the same results if I do it myself at home.Back to this product: it is a gel, and not watery as I expected, but this is actually good, as you can control it better. I did feel it sting, but really not even as much as the 20% peel I received from the derma. As it was my first at home peel, I did not leave it on longer than 5 minutes, as I wanted to first get a feeling for the product. There is a slight difference in my skin tone, but not as much as I would like, and got from the dermatologist peels. All in all, I am just glad I did not have a bad reaction to the product, and since I have it now I will continue using it. I think I may have really tough skin, and might need something a little stronger. I will use it once a week, to get max benefit.

I have stubborn sun spots on my cheek bones. I've tried many products that promise to diminish the sun damage and nothing has worked as well as this product. After only one application the spots began to diminish, my face looked a lot brighter and smooth,

I received this product yesterday. As others have noted, it arrived quickly. I applied the (free!) salicylic acid peel and then the glycolic acid. No, I did not follow the recommendation. I'm not conservative and have had major clinically-supervised peels

I wanted to add to my previous review...I applied these products yesterday and after looking at my skin more closely, I see definite improvement on some areas that have degenerated since I have been off Obagi. When I'm not on a routine, I develop mild acn

I'm getting up in my age. LOL...Really and can tell that my skin is not what it use to be. Fine lines and some dryness. I have started using this once a week. I'm 39 and my skin looks much younger. It fades my fine lines and makes my skin and make up look much clearer and make up goes on smooth. I leave it on anywhere form 6 to 9 mins. I would not leave it on long if you are very sensitive skin or fair skin. I have medium to light skin. I feel a difference in my skin.
Glycolic Peel User for Life!
Apr 13, 2012 by EmilyOG
I've only done two peels using this so far (also used a lactic peel before the glycolic), but my skin already looks a 100 times better! I had a few spots/scars that just would not go away...after just a little over a week, they are fading and healing, and my skin feel so fresh. I would say that the glycolic peel is much stronger than the lactic peel, so if you've never used glycolic before, I would suggest starting out with 20% or 30%. Also, I would definitely not use more than once in a 7-10 day time frame, since peels can thin your skin and cause long term damage if abused. Also, DO NOT exfoliate before or after using this, as it can tear your skin and make it much more sensitive.I used the lactic acid first and then followed with the 50% glycolic. Which is not recommended for sensitive skin or a novice...I've been using 30% glycolic pads 2-3 times per week for the past two years, so my skin was accustomed to the stinging. Start out slow and follow with a good moisturizer. I've recently discovered coconut oil and have been using that after peels. I have combo to oily skin, I'm 30 years old and still get the occasional breakout. The coconut goes on oily, but absorbs quickly and does not clog my pores at all. I feel like it really takes the sting out of the peel too and calms my skin down. There is a lot of research that says it helps with acne too (google it). Just a suggestion...every person's skin is different though. Use common sense and follow the directions and everything should be fine.

Actually works great for acne
Mar 08, 2012 by Usman Shahid "namsu"
I wish I did a before and after.Never having acne as a teenager when I turned 22 I started getting really bad acne on my forehead. I managed to buy a facewash that put it under control, but that wasnt fast enough because my entire forehead (which I have a big one) has been scarred by acne.I tried EVERYTHING very expensive scar removal creams kits etc. I tried one acid peel before this but it didnt burn at all, so I decided to try this.2 things:1.) go to an arts and crafts store and get a paintbrush, apply the acid with the paintbrush, you get way more uses and its much more accurate2.) get a moisturizer, I use tree oil extract with vitamin e its like 10 bucks on amazonIve only used it maybe three time but I can definitely tell my scars are fading and quickly, its still a little weak for me but I do feel a burn. I think im gonna finish off the bottle and try one more up, everyones skin is different though. I cant feel A THING on my forehead, but i remember I accidently put in on my cheek (which has no acne) and it burned a hole in it like a scar...you just have to test out what the tolerance is on where you wanna use it.
Glycolic Acid Peel
Feb 16, 2012 by Red
Wow...this took some getting used to as I am a redhead with sensitive skin, but I have really noticed a difference in the texture of my skin and the radiance...I know that since I have not used it but three times, its effects may be more obvious with more use over time. I will purchase this product again!
Feb 16, 2012 by Sarah
I love these peels. I know some might have a little concern that they are professional grade but it was so easy. I didn't have any negative side effects at all and I have to admit I left the peel on longer then they recommend.BUT, this has really made my skin much smoother, helped clean out my pores and keep them clean, softened my skin... Plus, if you do have a breakout, it really helps speed along the healing process.I use this once a week and really notice the results.
Same results as 25%
Feb 09, 2012 by maggiemay
This product I have used before in the lower strength. It appears to have similar results as the lower stength. I should have maybe purchased it in a higher acidic formula, as this one is just alright. I would go with the lower acid formula given the option. It did nothing more then create alittle brightness which I was getting from lower formula.

Item not as described. Simply a waste of money! Ended up with more acne instead. I bought the product thinking it would at be effective in getting rid of excess oil. The product did not sting much less peel.

This peel is fabulous! I have used it for a couple months and my skin looks amazing! I abuse my skin all summer, so I was ready to reveal smooth, soft skin. This did the trick!

You won't see magical results in 30 seconds, but in 2 weeks I've seen great results. If you are or have African American or Black descendants be very careful when using this or any acids/ chemical peels on your skin.
Oct 26, 2011 by J. Hursh "Star Sister"
I've been using 50% Glycolic Gel every week for a few years. I'm 62 years old and get plenty of compliments on my skin, many from younger women. After cleansing and when my skin is completely dry I pour a bit of the gel into a shot glass (actually, one of those little plastic cups that come with cough syrups) and fill till just the bottom is full. Then I dip a cotton gauze pad into the gel, dab onto my skin from hairline to just below the jawline and wait about 7 minutes. It does tingle (burn) sometimes but I've never experienced any burnt patches. I rinse with barely warm water - and lots of it! It's also a must to moisturize day and evenings, plus use a reputable sunscreen everyday. I live on the Olympic Coast of Washington State and true to the "Twilight" series it's very gray and rainy, but even overcast days have a UV index, so the sunscreen goes on!

Why pay for a chemical which can run $100+ when you can do it at home for cheaper? My sister and I swear by this. This stuff is amazing. I am very acne prone, but using this in addition to Retin-A as per the advice of an aesthetician has really cleared up my skin. And bonus: it's anti-aging as well. Can you say winning?

Strong acid that bites. I used this on a pitted scar and it got worse. Inconsistent results for the face for acne scars. But very good for skin tags and discolouration. Can use this in place of lazer for those small skin tags using cotton bud to apply. Not recommended for pitted scars though. For pitted scars, try Derma Rolling. Use this acid on back and body acne scarring and discoloration. Cheap and effective solution. If anyone can teach how to use this properly on full face, please advise.

i started out with huge blotches of redness on my cheeks, i tried fading creams and what not, but they didn't seem to do anything, so i decided to give this peel a try since it states that its very effective against hyper-pigmentation, and it sure as well was. I didn't see anything noticeable on the first time i did the peel, only that my cheeks were now smooth and real soft, I am now on my 6th peel, and i can say about 78% of my redness has dissapeared. i am so glad i turned to this product as my last resort, but if i only i knew about it sooner, i would've saved myself alot of money from those cheap uneffective facial creams on stores :/ its a well worth buy if you got redness issues, *****just make SURE that you use a moisturizer right after the peel, because then your skin may start to peel, and get irritated ***** i left the peel on for about 8mins before washing it off ( it will sting and make you wanna scratch your face off due to the itching, but its well worth it afterwords :) )
Can't feel anything. And have had several 50% peels before.
Aug 31, 2011 by Jennifer Noland
I am frustrated beyond belief. I have had several 50% glycolic acid peels before. Usually by 3 minutes I'm frantically racing to get it neutralized, burning and stinging so much it's unbearable. Just received this today. After 8 minutes I was still feeling nothing!!!! I was wondering if I even needed to rinse my face off. I am extremely annoyed and hope to receive a refund of my 48 dollars!!! What a waste of money. It's acid. It's supposed to sting! Especially at 50%. I'm not new to this stuff. I'm frustrated that I've been had. Would give it zero stars but you have to give at least one.

I had to wait a bit to review while using this product. I have been using this peel once a week for a couple months and it is awesome! My colouring is more even, pores smaller and it has definitely improved the texture of my skin. For years I had a wee hole on my cheek, from what I do not know. I have noticed it is completely gone now. You can feel it working it's magic so have a fan close by and tough it out. Rinse with plenty of cool water. I have been applying a cortisone gel afterwards that I had got from a spa where I had a series of 6 very expensive peels done. The redness is gone soon. I use a light weight cream and plenty of sunscreen afterwards. Love it!!!!! BTW, I am 52 years old and thought I looked great before but this peel really improved upon that 100%.

I have used the glycolic acid 50% gel peel quite a few times now. It did not cause my skin to "peel" like it did when I had a peel done by my dermatologist and I was feeling skeptical. My skin does seem a bit clearer and tighter. I would really like my old acne scars with lighten more but I think I should go with a stronger peel next time.

I've used this about 4 times now and have noticed a smoother quality to my skin along with my pores becoming smaller. Some of the other reviews were talking about the skin actually peeling or being burned which hasn't happened with this to me. I've worked up to about 7 minutes on and it definitely itches in the more sensitive areas like around the nose. I've also figured out to slather on a thick moisturizer afterwards which really soothes my face. I'll definitely keep using this.
